Chawli Beans

Chawli Beans (Long Green Beans) 

Chawli Beans is  a Lagune,( when is used as a dry grain the seed is also called pulse ) and it grown  all around the world.  Despite its origin from West Africa, however it's a Staple vegetable in Indian cooking. You'll also know Black eyed Peas as a dry version of Beans. 


  Chawli Beans has many Health Benefits: it controls blood sugar as lots of fibers in it help with constipation too. It's full of vitamins and minerals. 

  Here is a Very Quick Recipe for a weekday Healthy meal you can enjoy Chawli Beans with Roti or Paratha. I make Chawli Beans with potatoes. It  tastes very yummy. Hope you enjoy making it.

Ingredients: 

  • Chawli Beans: 1lb (small cut) 

  • Potatoes 1 small: (dice cut) 

  • Tomatoes: 1 small (dice cut) 

  • Oil: 2tsp 

  • Ajwain seeds(dill): 1tsp 

  • Hing: ¼ tsp 

  • Salt: according to your taste 

  • Red chili powder: 1tsp 

  • Coriander powder: 1stp

  •  Turmeric powder:1/4tsp 

Method: 

  1.  In small pressure cooker  add oil and turn on stove on high heat.

  2. Once the  oil is medium hot add Ajwain and hing in it.

  3. Add chopped Chawli Beans and Dice Cut potatoes.

  4. Now add all masala (Turmeric powder,  Chillis powder,  coriander powder, salt).

  5. Give a good stir to all mixer, keep heat on low to medium. 

  6. Add chopped Tomatoes and stir once again .

  7. Now add ¼ to ½ cup water give a stir and check the water- you not need too much water.

  8. Now lid pressure cooker and turn heat on high, let it whistle 3 times (in Instant Pot cook it for 3-4 min on high).

  9. Turn off heat and let pressure release itself.

  10. Server with Roti and enjoy your meal.
