Mango Chutney

Mango Chutney:

Mango Chutney is very popular all over the world. When the East India company, British, left India - one dish they took along with curry is a Mango Chutney. The big difference between Indian and British westren culture Mango Chutney is that it has more vinegar and sugar. It is more like jam or jelly kind of than Indian style.             

Mango: Mangos are native to India, and the National Fruit of India. It is also called the  KING of fruits. Mangos are a tropical fruit, which usually people eat in summer. Many people like to make different dishes out of Mango during the season. Mangos are a low calorie fruit with lots of Vitamin A and Vitamin C. There are thousand different ways to make Mango Chutney in all over India. Mango Chutney is usually made out of raw mango.

 

Raw Mango benefits: 

      Raw Mango can help you from intense heat during summer. It can detoxify your liver and it helps with digestive system. It is good for your skin and hair. It has less sugar than ripe mango, and it has lots of Vitamin C.


This is a very simple recipe of Mango chutney which needs a few ingredients. It can be served as a condiment or a side dish.

Ingredients:


  • Mango: 2 small size 

  • Jaggery:  1 cup (You can use Raw sugar to replace jaggery )

  • Whole red chilli: 2 (use according to your taste) 

  • Cumin seeds: ½ tsp

  • Salt: ½ teaspoon (according to your taste)

Peel off your Mango’s and cut it in little cubes.

Cut jaggery in small pieces too (nowadays you can find it powder jaggery too )

Use raw sugar if you aren't able to find jaggery.

In your mixer grinder jar, add the cut mangoes, cumin seeds, red chillies and grind together for a minute. 

Then add jaggery, salt and grind it one more time for 2 minutes till everything gets mixed well like a smoothie.


Here is your Mango Chutney, ready to serve with your favorite dish to give some tropical touch!


Tips

  • Add some water if needed while grinding.

  • You can keep this chutney in the refrigerator for a week and freeze it in an ice cube tray and use it as needed for as many months as you like.
