Divaso


Divaso is a unique ritual performedon the Amavasya or no moon day in the month of Ashada in Gujarat. Divaso 2020 date is July 20. The ritual is dedicated to Goddess Parvati.

 Divso is a festival which reflects India’s ‘unity in Disversity’. This festival is celebrated all over India but in by different names and traditions. 

In Gujarat as a  Divaso, in North they celebrate as Hariyali Amavasya, in Karnataka observe this day as Bheemana Amavasya.Divaso also know as Gatari Amavasya in Maharashtra.In Rajasthan this Amavasya is a time for fairs and festivity. A three day fair is organised.

In Gujarat Divaso celebration  begins with Lamp of ghee is lighted in the morning on this day and is kept burning for 36 hours i.e. upto next day evening. Worship is offered to this lamp. Divso stand for ‘deep vaso’ residence of lamp in the house. 


Diya are the marks of spiritual enlighten and it dispels evil.

Performing Deepa Puja provides Asta Aishwarya’s (8 types of wealth). It also possesses spiritual significance. It is believed that the radiations of the light of the diyas drive out all the evil and bad powers. It is said to welcome new brightness into our life.


On This Day my mom make special sweet ( Mithai) it call Gol papdi or Sukhadi. Here is recipes for it.you'll n33d main three ingredients to make this yummy treat which is very healthy. 

Preparation time : 10-15min  

Cooking time 30-35min 

Ingredients :

1-1/2 cup wheat flour

1cup jaggery 

1 cup ghee

Method:

1)Chop jaggery with knife small 

2)grease one plate with ghee and keep it inside 

3)put pan on stove add ghee once it melt little add wheat flour and start roasting on slow medium to low flame in between ,stirring continue for 30 to 35 min depend on stove flame , when flour change color little golden turn off the flame 

4)add the jaggery in pan and mix well all together , jaggery will melt in hot pan itself 

5)pour all mixture in greased plate and flatten with vati or spatula  and cut with knife while it still little hot 

6) let it cool for 10-15 min before you take it out 

(You can add ginger powder and Ajvain during winter it will help your body to keep warm , or add-chopped almonds )
