Dates and Oats Ladu ( Powerballs)

On a Occasion of auspicious day Ganesh chaturthi, here I am sharing quick Ladu recipe which will make your festival more speical in few minutes with very few ingredients .

Ganesh Chaturthi :

Ganesh chaturthi is also known as Vinayak chaturthi. All Hindus celebrate this most popular deity of Lord Ganesh. There are more than 100s names of Lord Ganesh. Some of them are known by the names like Ganapati, Ekadanta, Vinayaka, Pillaiyar and Heramba. My most favorite is  Bapa.

People celebrate Ganesh chaturthi on Shukla Paksha chaturthi (4th day of waxing moon) in the month of Bhadrapada, as per Hindu Calendar.

This remains one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the Country, partly because Ganesh is one of the most popular Gods to worship. And everyone will seek his blessings when they begin with any new work.

वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ ।

निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा ॥

In most parts of India people celebrate this festival in their home. But in Maharashtra and surrounding states it's wildly popular as a Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav (public event). As people get together and bring beautiful and huge Ganesh deities to their neighborhood. And celebrate this festival for 10 days followed by visarjan on the last day.

Festival is also famous outside India.

This festival was initiated by founder of  Maratha Empire Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Somewhere in the 17th century to bring  cultural awareness and nationalism.and has been celebrated as community celebration. After Bajirao got defeated by British community - this celebration ended.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak, also known as "Father of Indian unrest" brought household celebration in to a Grand Carnival and he saw a big potential in this very festival. He saw this as a unifier for Hindu against East India company, who were ruling India and Tilak’s vision was that India need to be united and we should come together. He and his fellow freedom fighters used the festival as a tool to unify people.

It's been 125 years this festival has been in practice.
