Onion Rava Dosa is a popular South Indian crepe made from semolina and rice flour. With an instant recipe and a handful of ingredients, rava dosa can come out in a few minutes. It is a good substitute for a traditional dosa when you're pressed for time as making this dosa does not require hours of soaking, grinding, and fermentation.
Rava dosa seasoned with onions, green chilies and cilantro-- it is thin, crisp, and lacy and tastes delicious when served hot right from the stove with Coconut Chutney and sambar. Usually, a little quantity of maida is used for binding. This recipe is also vegan.
Ingredients
Semolina/Rava – 1 cup
All-purpose flour/Maida – ½cup
Rice flour – 1 cup
Onion chopped ‐- 1/2 cup
Green chilly chopped – 1no
Ginger chopped – 2 tsp
Coriander chopped – 1 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Curry leaves chopped – handful
Cumin – 1 tsp
Water – 4cups approx
Method:
Mix all ingredients except onion and Add about 3 cups of water and stir it all together. the batter is supposed to be very watery.
Mix the rest for about 15 min so the batter becomes little thick
Heat big pancake pan, add chopped Onions, and sprinkler batter on that onion. Cook both sides with some oil (on medium to low heat)
Serve hot with sambar and coconut chutney.
(to make crispy you should cook on low heat)
